HELP CENTRE

Frequently asked
questions.

What is an email client?

It is an app for reading and sending messages, such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Mail. Some accounts can also be accessed in a web browser.

What is the difference between IMAP and POP3?

IMAP keeps messages on the server and syncs them across devices. They use storage space; if you reach your plan’s quota, you may stop receiving mail. POP3 usually downloads messages to your device. Check whether you want to keep a copy on the server.

What is SMTP for?

SMTP sends mail. You need an outgoing server, a port and authentication using your full email address.

Do I need to enter my password here?

No. This site uses only your name and address to show the guide. Enter the password only in your email app.

What if it does not connect?

Check the address, full username, password and ports. If the secure server name does not match the certificate, or the domain does not resolve, confirm the settings with your email provider.

Can I use another app?

Yes. “Other apps” shows the IMAP, POP3 and SMTP values you can enter manually.
